The army bomb squad were called out to a suspected gun-making workshop in Cork city today after it was discovered by Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n

The location, believed to be on the southside of the city, is currently being searched by officers. The discovery came following the seizure of a quantity of cocaine alongside three suspected firearms and ammunition from a vehicle at Lisansky in Mallow last night. After searching the vehicle, a male in his 40s was arrested and taken to a Garda Station in Co. Cork. He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.<\/p>\n

Cork Beo understands that a Garda probe then led officers to a domestic residence in Cork city where parts and components of firearms were located. The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the scene, and follow-up searches are still underway. Investigations are ongoing and a Garda spokesperson has confirmed that further updates will be issued in due course.<\/p>\n

A Garda spokesperson said: “Garda\u00ed observed a vehicle acting suspiciously at Lisansky, Mallow, Co. Cork while on duty last night, Tuesday 4th November 2025. A search of the vehicle lead to the seizure of a quantity of cocaine along with three suspected firearms and ammunition.<\/p>\n

“A male in his 40s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co. Cork. He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.<\/p>\n

“Follow up searches are being conducted at a domestic residence in Cork city today, Wednesday 5th November 2025. The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the scene.<\/p>\n
