Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>\u00a0will\u00a0reportedly be\u00a0the final acting role in the career of\u00a0Patrick Stewart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The film is set to be released in cinemas on December 18,\u00a02026\u00a0and it will feature the return of\u00a0Robert Downey Jr.<\/a>\u00a0to the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a>\u00a0(MCU), this time in the role of the supervillain Doctor Doom.<\/p>\n

The Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers and the original X-Men will all team up to take on Doctor Doom\u00a0in the film, and among them will be Stewart as Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, and\u00a0Ian McKellen<\/a>\u2019s Magneto.<\/p>\n

Now, it has been reported that Stewart, who is 85, will give up acting once the film is completed. As discussed on\u00a0The Kristian Harloff Show\u00a0on November 3, Stewart will\u00a0supposedly\u00a0be\u00a0\u201cdone with acting\u201d and will be \u201cstepping down\u201d after\u00a0Doomsday.<\/p>\n

Stewart is one of the most respected actors of his generation, having studied at the Royal Shakespeare Company and earning a\u00a0reputation as a stage actor, winning two Olivier Awards. He achieved new levels of fame playing Jean-Luc Picard in\u00a0Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/a>\u00a0from 1987 to 1994, reprising the role in the 2020 spinoff series.<\/p>\n

He played Professor X in Fox\u2019s original trio of\u00a0X-Men\u00a0films from 2000 to 2006 and after\u00a0Disney\u2019s acquisition of Fox<\/a>, he has become a part of the MCU, appearing in 2022\u2019s\u00a0Doctor Strange\u00a0In\u00a0The\u00a0Multiverse\u00a0Of\u00a0Madness<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Doomsday\u00a0will be the 39th\u00a0film in the\u00a0MCU and the fifth\u00a0Avengers\u00a0movie and will see the return of directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who also helmed\u00a0Infinity War<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Endgame<\/a>\u00a0among other MCU titles.<\/p>\n

Chris Hemsworth<\/a>, Anthony\u00a0Mackie\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Rudd<\/a> will return as Thor, Captain America and Ant-Man respectively, as will Letitia Wright as Shuri, aka Black Panther, and Vanessa Kirby<\/a>,\u00a0Pedro Pascal<\/a>,\u00a0Ebon Moss-Bachrach<\/a>\u00a0and Joseph Quinn will bring their\u00a0Fantastic Four<\/a>\u00a0characters into the Avengers world.<\/p>\n

Florence Pugh<\/a>,\u00a0Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Lewis\u00a0Pullman\u00a0and\u00a0David\u00a0Harbour<\/a>\u00a0will also be a part of the film\u00a0as the New Avengers, as\u00a0established\u00a0in\u00a0Thunderbolts*<\/a>\u00a0earlier this year, while\u00a0Ryan Reynolds is also reported to be making an appearance as Deadpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year,\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0was moved from May 2026 to December, giving the production extra time to finish up but leaving fans impatient<\/a>.
