{"id":124669,"date":"2025-11-06T08:55:26","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T08:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/124669\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T08:55:26","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T08:55:26","slug":"painting-showing-king-and-queens-visit-unveiled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/124669\/","title":{"rendered":"Painting showing King and Queen&#8217;s visit unveiled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A portrait commemorating King Charles III and Queen Camilla&#8217;s visit to Jersey has been unveiled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The artwork depicts a scene of the royal couple walking around Royal Square after addressing crowds who gathered in heavy rain to see the King and Queen during their visit on 15 July 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The painting was unveiled by the Princess Royal during a ceremony in the Royal Court Building in St Helier while she visited the Jersey on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Artist Jason Butler said he wanted to focus his painting on their &#8220;genuine enjoyment&#8221; of the occasion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The image of them walking through the rain, smiling and engaging with islanders, felt like the truest reflection of that day,&#8221; Mr Butler said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The King&#8217;s visit marked the first time a reigning sovereign had been to Jersey since Queen Elizabeth II in 2005.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Bailiff of Jersey Robert MacRae said the portrait would act as a reminder of the visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Princess Anne&#8217;s visit to Jersey continues on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"King Charles III and Queen Camilla stand on a platform while on a royal visit to Jersey.
