Michael Shannon has recently opened up about his experience working on Man of Steel. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair as part of its Scene Selection series, the actor reflected on some of his most notable performances, including the moment when Superman kills Zod to save innocent lives.<\/p>\n
Watching the scene again, Shannon shared his thoughts about the intense finale. He acknowledged the controversy surrounding Superman\u2019s decision to kill, explaining that director Zack Snyder deliberately placed the hero in a challenging position.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The actor said, \u201cI guess one of the controversies with this film \u2014 and Zack engineered this really \u2014 is that Superman is not supposed to kill anybody, so I put him in a situation where if he wants to save these people, he has to kill me, and he does, and that obviously led to a lot of sturm and drang, or whatever you say.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the backlash the film received, Shannon expressed in his work and collaboration with Snyder. He noted, \u201cI really loved working with Zack, and I really loved making this movie. I think a lot of people say, \u2018Oh, you know, this isn\u2019t what he usually does. He just went for the big payday or something.\u2019 But I\u2019m proud of this movie. I think it\u2019s actually about something.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Shannon\u2019s comments come more than a decade after Man of Steel\u2019s release.
