It\u2019s been five years since BioWare first announced it was working on a brand new Mass Effect game<\/a>. But today, November 7th (N7 Day), BioWare shared a promising sign of life: the BioWare team is \u201cheads-down and focused exclusively\u201d on the game, according to its executive producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out.\u201d Mike Gamble says<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re excited by what we\u2019re building, and we promise you: when we\u2019re ready, it\u2019ll be a lot of fun to show.\u201d Gamble also addresses \u201cthe rumors lately,\u201d perhaps referencing concerns about the series\u2019s future if the deal to take EA private<\/a> goes through. \u201cYou\u2019ve made it clear you care deeply about what\u2019s next. So let\u2019s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe.<\/p>\n

The blog post has some info about the upcoming Mass Effect TV series BioWare is working on with Amazon<\/a>, too. \u201cThe writers room is going strong, and we\u2019ve got a lot figured out about how it fits within the Mass Effect canon, and where it sits in respect to the new game,\u201d Gamble says. \u201cThe show will explore a brand-new story within the universe\u2019s timeline, and will be set after the original trilogy. It won\u2019t be a retread of Commander Shepard\u2019s story \u2013 because after all \u2026 that\u2019s YOUR story, isn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/p>\n

As someone who finally finished the original trilogy last year thanks to the Legendary Edition<\/a>, I\u2019m looking forward to what\u2019s next for the series.
