\n\tGirl groups are making history at the 2026 Grammys. Not only did global girl group Katseye<\/a> earn a Best New Artist nomination, but Huntr\/x, the girl group from Kpop Demon Hunters<\/a>, earned numerous nominations for \u201cGolden,\u201d the hit song from the Netflix film.<\/p>\n

\n\t2026 will mark the first time in nearly 20 years that a girl group\u2019s song gets a nomination in the Song of the Year category, thanks to the nod for \u201cGolden.\u201d The last time that a girl group was nominated in the category was in 2007, when the Chicks won for \u201cNot Ready to Make Nice.<\/a>\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIf \u201cGolden\u201d wins for Song of the Year, the Grammy would go to EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick, who co-wrote the track for Huntr\/x, the animated trio voiced by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. In the Song of the Year category, \u201cGolden\u201d is up against Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cAbracadabra,\u201d Doechii\u2019s \u201cAnxiety,\u201d Ros\u00e9 and Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cAPT,\u201d Bad Bunny\u2019s \u201cDtMF,\u201d Kendrick Lamar and SZA\u2019s \u201cLuther,\u201d Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s \u201cManchild,\u201d and Billie Eilish\u2019s \u201cWildflower.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOnly two other girl group songs have earned Song of the Year nods in the last 25 years: TLC in 2000 for \u201cUnpretty\u201d and Destiny\u2019s Child in 2001 for \u201cSay My Name,\u201d though neither won their awards.<\/p>\n

\n\tBoth Huntr\/x\u2019s \u201cGolden\u201d <\/a>and Katseye\u2019s \u201cGabriela\u201d<\/a> make history in the Best Pop Duo\/Group Performance category, since it marks the first time a girl group has been nominated in the category since the award\u2019s creation in 2012. Both songs are up against Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande\u2019s \u201cDefying Gravity,\u201d Ros\u00e9 and Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cAPT,\u201d and SZA and Kendrick Lamar\u2019s \u201c30 for 30.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the Best New Artist category, Katseye is repping girl groups, which have seen decent representation over the years: Wet Leg was up for the award in 2023, Chloe x Halle earned a nod in 2019, and Haim was up for it in 2015. This year, Katseye will face off against Olivia Dean, the Mar\u00edas, Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young. The only all-women groups to win the award in Grammy history were the Judds in 1985 and the Chicks in 1999. <\/p>\n

\n\tHuntr\/x\u2019s film KPop Demon Hunters<\/a> also earned a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for a Visual Media for \u201cGolden.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAside from Katseye and Kpop Demon Hunters, British R&B trio FLO earned a nod for Best Progressive R&B Album for their Access All Areas<\/a> album. Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Ren\u00e9e Downer follow in the footsteps of Chloe x Halle, who were nominated for Ungodly Hour<\/a> in 2021 and The Kids Are Alright in 2019. FLO are up against Durand Bernarr\u2019s Bloom, Bilal\u2019s Adjust Brightness, Destin Conrad\u2019s Love on Digital, and Terrace Martin and Kenyon Dixon\u2019s Come As You Are.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Girl groups are making history at the 2026 Grammys.
