Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2019s publicist wasn\u2019t exactly tickled pink by this particular fashion choice.<\/p>\n

The year was 2017, and a young Chalamet was starring in Luca Guadagnino\u2019s \u201cCall Me by Your Name.\u201d While in Germany, before the movie\u2019s debut at the Berlin Film Festival, the actor\u2019s eye caught a glimpse of designer Haider Ackermann\u2019s \u201cbig raincoat,\u201d and in that moment, he knew this was the garment for him to wear to the premiere.<\/p>\n

But his publicist didn\u2019t take a liking to the idea. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like, \u2018You\u2019re not even going to get off the ground!\u2019\u201d Chalamet recalled being told by his publicist in a Thursday interview for Vogue.<\/a> \u201c\u2018You\u2019re going to ruin what you\u2019re doing before you get going.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cDune\u201d actor ended up wearing the pink jacket, but for him, it wasn\u2019t just a color \u2014 it was a power move, especially given his disregard for the \u201cdegree of obedience\u201d that often comes with being an actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think some people relish it, not even just actors,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m talking publicists, the unit people. People love to be told what to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The interview also noted that Chalamet now has a completely different publicist. <\/p>\n

Since then, the \u201cA Complete Unknown\u201d star hasn\u2019t shied away from bold fashion choices. At the 2025 Academy Awards, he brought a touch of Willy Wonka whimsy<\/a> to the red carpet. From head-to-toe in striking yellow \u2014 a Gucci suit, matching shirt and Cartier jewels \u2014 he practically looked like the embodiment of sunshine. <\/p>\n
