One of the world’s leading lighting and electronics manufacturer has made a multi-million-euro deal to buy a Cork-based company.<\/p>\n

Industry giant Fulham Co has acquired Nualight. The company was founded in Cork in 2004 and has grown to be one of Europe’s leading suppliers for refrigeration lighting. You’ve probably seen their display lighting on shelves and in the frozen aisle at supermarkets across Ireland <\/a>and the world – customers include Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Spar and many more.<\/p>\n

The acquisition, reported by the Irish Independent to have been worth up to \u20ac30 million, will see both companies<\/a> continue to operate independently, while using shared technologies and customer portfolio across America, Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n

The company was founded over two decades ago by Dr Liam Kelly, to explore how LED technology could transform retail and display lighting. Its board and investors include Eamonn Quinn best known for his role in Superquinn. It is headquartered at the South Ring Business Park in Cork City.<\/a><\/p>\n

Andrew Cronin, who was appointed CEO of Nualight in 2021, said: “Joining Fulham\u2019s global organisation will help us expand our product portfolio and deliver advanced refrigeration and display lighting solutions more efficiently to customers around the world.”<\/p>\n

Mr Cronin took on the role of CEO after 13 years with the company and has headed the expansion of the company’s energy efficient offerings, including world-class LED lighting. Since March 2021, the EU’s Ecodesign Directive and regulations have banned the sale of the least efficient refrigerated appliances in commercial settings.<\/p>\n
