It\u2019s doing d**b stuff for too long and calling it \u2018hard work\u2019. He suggests, \u201cStop flaring your elbows out like a chicken. You\u2019re not hitting more chest, you\u2019re tearing up your shoulders. Tuck your elbows, set your back, and control the damn bar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Behind-the-neck press<\/p>\n<p>Behind-the-neck presses are often seen as a hardcore move, but Alex says they\u2019re simply unnecessary and offer no real benefits at all. He explains, \u201cYour shoulders aren\u2019t meant to move that way. Learn to squat with a free bar before your joints file for retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Good mornings with ego weight<\/p>\n<p>Performing the good morning exercise with more weight than you can handle significantly raises your risk of injury &#8211; particularly to your spine. According to Alex, \u201cYou\u2019re not \u2018feeling your hamstrings\u2019. You\u2019re rounding your spine and praying it doesn\u2019t pop. Drop the weight and control the movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Kipping pull-ups<\/p>\n<p>Alex doesn\u2019t consider kipping pull-ups to be real pull-ups. He explains, \u201cYou\u2019re not doing pull-ups, you\u2019re just fighting gravity with terrible form. Full control is better than flailing around like you\u2019re escaping bees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Leg press with hands on knees<\/p>\n<p>The trainer explains that if you need to use your arms to finish a leg press rep, your weights are far too heavy. Not only does this offer zero benefit, but it also puts extreme stress on your knees &#8211; practically compressing them into dust.<\/p>\n<p> Heavy shrugs with terrible posture<\/p>\n<p>Performing heavy shrugs with incorrect form can put excessive strain on your shoulders and lead to serious injury. Alex explains, \u201cRolling your shoulders doesn\u2019t build traps. It just ruins them.
