Three Cork nursing home professionals have been recognised at this year\u2019s Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) Care Awards for their empathy and dedication.<\/p>\n
The awards, held last Thursday in the Round Room at the Mansion House in Dublin, are the leading national celebration of excellence in nursing home care.<\/p>\n
Now in their 16th year, they honour the dedication, compassion, and professionalism shown by individuals and teams that support the more than 27,000 people living in nursing homes across Ireland.<\/p>\n
More than 250 nominations were submitted from across the country, with 34 finalists selected by an independent judging panel, representing nursing, academia, and the wider health and social care sector.<\/p>\n
Those recognised from Cork were Sherin George, of Haven Bay Care Centre in Kinsale, Stephy Sebastian, of Ballincollig Community Nursing Unit, and Gillian O\u2019Shea, of Amberley Home and Retirement Cottages in Fermoy, each of whom received a General Care Award.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Kieran O\u2019Donnell, older-people minister, who also presented an award.<\/p>\n
