It isn\u2019t just that a bubble exists, but that it is being powered by what is arguably more than $1.2 trillion in mis-sold debt. I even called this revelation the AI bubble\u2019s \u201cBig Short\u201d moment. Well, the actual \u201cBig Short\u201d guy, Michael Burry himself, has just revealed he is heavily shorting the very core of the AI bubble. This isn\u2019t just vindication of my analysis; it has spurred others to do the same and strongly suggests a crash is imminent. In fact, this could be the very thing to pop the bubble. Let me explain.<\/p>\n<p id=\"a5dd\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph nu nv ie nw b iy nx ny nz jb oa ob oc od oe of og oh oi oj ok ol om on oo op he bl\">Let\u2019s start with the obvious: why is the AI industry in a bubble?<\/p>\n<p id=\"069d\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph nu nv ie nw b iy nx ny nz jb oa ob oc od oe of og oh oi oj ok ol om on oo op he bl\">Well, the reason the AI industry is so valuable and has attracted so much investment is because it will supposedly augment or automate jobs and dramatically increase productivity. However, as it stands, AI is so unreliable that it can\u2019t be used to augment jobs, given that it gets things horrifically wrong constantly and actually decreases productivity in most cases (read more <a class=\"ah hy\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/wlockett.medium.com\/ai-will-destroy-everything-93ca8093fd44\" data-discover=\"true\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). We also know that AI training has hit a point of diminishing returns, meaning piling exponentially more money into development won\u2019t yield significantly better results (read more <a class=\"ah hy\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/predict\/ai-is-hitting-a-hard-ceiling-it-cant-pass-851f4667d39b\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).
