\n\tLamborghini<\/a> just unveiled a new non-hybrid race car<\/a> for 2027 that will please the purists<\/a> in more ways than one. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Temerario<\/a> Super Trofeo is powered by a twin-turbo V-8 making 641 horsepower that\u2019s mated to a six-speed sequential manual transmission. All that juice is sent only to the rear wheels, making the debut a race car with customers in mind.<\/p>\n

\n\tLamborghini<\/a>\u2018s new auto was unveiled this weekend at the Misano World Circuit in Italy. The car will compete in the marque\u2019s customer racing events in 2027 and is a successor to the Hurac\u00e1n Super Trofeo<\/a>, which also competed in Squadra Corse.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLamborghini was not born as a racing brand, yet our customers\u2014more than 1,300 drivers have competed in Super Trofeo\u2014have constantly asked us for a product designed for the track,\u201d Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini\u2019s CEO, said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cOver the years, Super Trofeo and customer racing have become a true pillar of our long-term company strategy, strengthening the bond between the brand and its most passionate clients.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Temerario Super Trofeo is a sibling car to the Temerario GT3<\/a>, which was the first pure race car version of the Temerario. That car is also powered by the twin-turbo V-8 and shares other parts with the Temerario Super Trofeo, including the transmission. The new Super Trofeo is hundreds of pounds lighter than the street-legal Temerario, in large part because the street-legal Temerario employs a hybrid system to increase power.<\/p>\n

\n\tLamborghini did not disclose the price of the Temerario Super Trofeo, but something in the neighborhood of $400,000 would not be a surprise, not including money for support at the track. The Temerario Super Trofeo is intended for racers who want a turnkey race car that has the latest tech and is relatively safe. <\/p>\n

\n\tLamborghini Super Trofeo cars started with a Gallardo Super Trofeo in 2009, which gave way to another Gallardo Super Trofeo. Three Hurac\u00e1n Super Trofeos followed, and, now, the Temerario Super Trofeo. In between, there have been 563 races, Lamborghini said, and 1,383 drivers. <\/p>\n
