{"id":135722,"date":"2025-11-12T12:56:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T12:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/135722\/"},"modified":"2025-11-12T12:56:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T12:56:25","slug":"fiosru-investigating-after-death-of-pedestrian-in-mallow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/135722\/","title":{"rendered":"Fiosr\u00fa investigating after death of pedestrian in Mallow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fiosr\u00fa, the office of the Police Ombudsman, is investigating the circumstances of a road traffic incident in Co Cork, in which a woman died.<\/p>\n<p>The woman was critically injured in the incident which occurred in Ballyellis in Mallow at around 6pm yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>She was pronounced dead a short time later.<\/p>\n<p>Her body was removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.<\/p>\n<p>It is understood the woman had an interaction with garda\u00ed earlier in the evening.<\/p>\n<p>A Garda spokesperson said the matter has been referred to Fiosr\u00fa.<\/p>\n<p>Fiosr\u00fa confirmed it had received a referral from An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The referral was made by a Garda Superintendent under Section 203(1) of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of Fiosr\u00fa&#8217;s on-call team of investigators attended the scene.
