A fisherman, aged in his 40s, has died after falling overboard on a fishing vessel off the north west coast.<\/p>\n
The incident happened after 1pm yesterday off the coast of \u00c1rainn Mh\u00f3r, within Irish territorial waters.<\/p>\n
The man’s body was recovered from the sea by a rescue vessel a short time later and then airlifted to Sligo University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
A technical examination of the vessel has been carried out.<\/p>\n
The man is not originally from Ireland, but it is understood that he had been a well-experienced fisherman who lived in Greencastle, Inishowen, for many years.<\/p>\n
The Marine Casualty Investigation Board and the Health and Safety Authority have been notified.<\/p>\n
