Jennifer Aniston<\/a> recently sat down with Elle as part of its \u201cWomen in Hollywood\u201d cover series, and while she mostly touched on her own career, the \u201cFriends\u201d star also weighed in on what she called ABC<\/a>\u2019s \u201cdangerous\u201d suspension of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a>\u201d in September.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnthinkable things are happening,\u201d Aniston told the outlet. \u201cIt\u2019s very dangerous and very unfortunate. But at the end of the day, we\u2019re the viewers. We subscribe to these networks and streaming services, so it really comes down to the people and their voices.\u201d<\/p>\n

She noted, \u201cAll those subscription cancellations spoke volumes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s show was pulled for several days<\/a> after he criticized the right-wing response<\/a> to the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk<\/a>, following pressure from Brendan Carr<\/a>, President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s appointee to the Federal Communications Commission.<\/p>\n

Aniston never mentioned Trump during the interview published Wednesday.<\/p>\n

She has a longtime friendship with Kimmel<\/a> and his wife Molly McNearney, however, who produces the show. Aniston also seemingly encouraged her Instagram followers<\/a> last year to vote for then-Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor was certainly right in noting the backlash to Kimmel\u2019s suspension, as cancellation rates skyrocketed<\/a> for Disney+ and Hulu \u2014 two major streaming services owned by ABC\u2019s parent company, Disney \u2014 amid widespread outcry from hundreds of celebrities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The suspension was ultimately lifted within days<\/a> after what Disney described in a statement as \u201cthoughtful conversations.\u201d Nexstar, the largest television owner in the country, said in its own statement at the time<\/a> that it would continue to preempt \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all need to listen to both sides,\u201d Aniston told Elle. \u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019ve lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cWe\u2019ve lost communication, we\u2019ve lost sitting across the table and having a discussion that is productive, learning from each other. It feels like everyone is sort of stuck in their positions and it\u2019s my way or the highway, and that\u2019s just not how the world works.\u201d<\/p>\n

A group of former FCC chairs on Thursday called for the agency to abolish<\/a> its \u201cnews distortion\u201d policy, arguing it\u2019s been \u201cweaponized to chill press freedom\u201d instead of being used as intended to punish broadcasters found to have \u201cdeliberately distorted\u201d the news.<\/p>\n

Protect Democracy, a nonprofit among the petitioners, cited its use to suspend Kimmel.<\/p>\n
