An Ennis ice-cream business has scooped a win in a planning row with the local authority and will now be allowed to keep their distinctive shopfront.<\/p>\n
Gino\u2019s Italian Limited, operating on O\u2019Connell Street, have been successful in their appeal to An Coimisi\u00fan Plean\u00e1la against a decision by Clare County Council to refuse planning permission to retain its sliding glass door facade.<\/p>\n
An Coimisi\u00fan Plean\u00e1la decided by a majority decision of 2:1 to grant permission generally in accordance with its inspector\u2019s recommendations, while also deciding not to attach the inspector\u2019s recommended condition to reduce the width of the doorway.<\/p>\n
The contested shop entrance comprises of a full length bi-folding white PVC door which are fully open during the businesses\u2019 operating hours.<\/p>\n
According to the owners of the business they believed the change to the shopfront would have constituted \u2018exempt development\u2019 which is why planning permission had not been sought initially. <\/p>\n
