Photo: Stephen McCarthy\/Sportsfile<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Crowds of fans arrived back into Dublin Airport from Hungary on Monday, still on a high after the team&#8217;s phenomenal victory in the Pusk\u00e1s Ar\u00e9na.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Troy&#8217;s grandmother Josie Parrott spent most of Monday greeting fans and well-wishers at the front gate of her home on Portland Row in the north inner city, surrounded by family and friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It was here, on Sunday, that she had watched with pride as her grandson propelled the Boys in Green into the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Josie, fast becoming a superstar in her own right, posed for selfies with well-wishers and thanked everyone who supported her grandson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Her home is already festooned with Christmas lights and bunting hangs from the windows close to a large image of her famous grandson, pinned high up over the house.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/4863483_9_articleinline_PORTLAND_20ROW_20_8.jpg\" alt=\"Josie Parrott at her home in Portland Row, Dublin, today. Photo: Gareth Chaney<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI\u2019m just over the moon,\u201d she told the Irish Examiner as she greeted Troy&#8217;s sister Abbey, who had just returned from watching her brother play in Budapest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI\u2019m still taking it all in,\u201d said Josie, as she hugged her granddaughter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI\u2019m so proud but I\u2019m not surprised. He was well able to do it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Abbey also posed for pictures and thanked everyone for the support and good wishes they had shown her family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">She had attended the game with her sister Emmie and Troy&#8217;s partner Lauren Bowry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Troy, who plays for Eredivisie club AZ, will return to Amsterdam on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHe won\u2019t be back. He is going to Amsterdam, and the rest of the family is on the way back here,&#8221; said granny Josie.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Portland Row is no stranger to famous athletes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Two-time Olympic gold medal boxing champion Kellie Harrington lives on the same row while former Republic of Ireland player Wes Hoolahan is also from the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Troy Parrott\u2019s proud grandmother said she is \u201cover the moon\u201d after his historic hat-trick in Hungary.
