Deepika Padukone has opened up about a significant shift in her approach to choosing films, revealing that massive box-office blockbusters no longer drive her the way they once did. In a candid interview with Harper\u2019s Bazaar that she\u2019s moved past the days of being motivated purely by scale or money. \u201cAt this stage, it\u2019s not about that anymore. It\u2019s not about the Rs 100-crore films, or even the Rs 500-Rs 600 crore ones,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She emphasized that her real non-negotiable now is authenticity. \u201cAnything that doesn’t feel true to me doesn’t cut it. Sometimes people offer a lot of money and think that’s enough, but it isn’t. And the reverse is also true some things may not be commercially big, but I believe in the people or the message, and I’ll stand by it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond her own roles, Deepika is increasingly passionate about enabling other voices in filmmaking. \u201cWhat excites me is empowering other talent. My team and I are now focused on that enabling storytelling and supporting other creative minds, writers, directors, and even new producers. That\u2019s what feels meaningful to me now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Padukone also spoke about the unhealthy glorification of overwork in the industry. \u201cWe have normalised overworking. We mistake burnout for commitment. Eight hours of work a day is enough for the human body and mind. Only when you’re healthy can you give your best. Bringing a burnt-out person back into the system helps no one,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

In short, Deepika\u2019s evolving priorities highlight that for her, success is no longer just about box-office numbers it’s about truth, balance, and meaningful storytelling.<\/p>\n
