{"id":149521,"date":"2025-11-20T04:47:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T04:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/149521\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T04:47:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T04:47:08","slug":"late-our-ladys-templemore-surge-ends-north-mons-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/149521\/","title":{"rendered":"Late Our Lady&#8217;s Templemore surge ends North Mon&#8217;s journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n             Our Lady\u2019s Secondary School, Templemore 1-17 Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire An Mhainistir Thuaidh 1-15\u00a0\n        <\/p>\n<p>A late surge from Our Lady&#8217;s Secondary School at Fethard Town Park on Wednesday sent them through to the TUS Dr Harty Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire An Mhainistir Thuaidh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The northside school, semi-finalists last year, would have progressed with a draw were in a good position when a free from Craig \u00d3 S\u00failleabh\u00e1in in the 56th minute put them 1-15 to 1-13 ahead, having trailed by seven at one stage when playing against the wind in the first half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, they would not score again and Templemore found an extra gear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Jack Bevans, unerring from placed balls throughout, halved the deficit before Philip O\u2019Dwyer levelled and then, as the clock neared 60, good work from Padraic O\u2019Shea drew a foul and Bevans sent over his tenth point of the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">After a Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire equalising attempt fell wide, they lost Trevor \u00d3 Bruadau to a red card for an off-the-ball incident and a scuffle ensued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">When normality resumed, Templemore centre-back Shay Gleeson &#8211; superb throughout &#8211; sent a free deep into North Mon territory and Cian Broderick latched on to the break before firing over.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">One last Mon attack failed to yield the goal they now needed and the final whistle followed &#8211; there was a slight chance of salvation if St Joseph\u2019s of Tulla had lost to Christian Brothers College but that result sealed their fate, meaning just one Cork school, Midleton CBS, will be in the quarter-final draw.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Despite having the breeze in their faces in the opening half, \u2018the AG\u2019 began well, with a pair of Gabh\u00e1n \u00d3 Ceallach\u00e1in points putting them 0-4 to 0-1 ahead but Templemore responded strongly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Bevans\u2019 frees and an outrageous Dan Coffey shot from the right corner helped them to move 0-6 to 0-4 in front before a turnover led to Coffey and the industrious James Ryan setting up Se\u00e1n Walsh for a well-taken goal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Further points followed from Ryan and Broderick to put them 1-8 to 0-4 in front but Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire managed to halt the flow and Craig \u00d3 S\u00failleabh\u00e1in was to the fore as they finished the half well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A 65 from \u00d3 Ceallach\u00e1in, after Lucas \u00d3 Muirthile had gone close to a goal, sent them in trailing by 1-9 to 0-7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Within three minutes of the restart, they were level: \u00d3 S\u00failleabh\u00e1in scored a free and then set up \u00d3 Muirthile for a goal before Josh \u00d3 Brosnach\u00e1in levelled.
