A man in his 40s has died after a collision in Sallypark, Waterford, on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene after a car struck a pedestrian shortly before 2:10am.<\/p>\n
The male pedestrian, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.<\/p>\n
The driver of the car, a male in his 20s, was uninjured.<\/p>\n
The road remains closed, on the R448 from Rice\u2019s Bridge to the New Rath Road roundabout, and local diversions are in place.<\/p>\n
The road is preserved for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to examine the scene.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.<\/p>\n
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R448 between 1:30am and 2:15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
