A man in his 60s has died in an overnight house fire in Cork city.<\/p>\n
The fire broke out in a dwelling on Noonan\u2019s Rd at around 3am on Sunday morning, with firefighters from Cork City Fire Brigade attending the scene.<\/p>\n
Firefighters had to use breathing equipment to gain access to the premises, and at 3.37am they were able to recover a man in his 60s, who was unconscious, from the building.<\/p>\n
The man was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead some time afterward.<\/p>\n
A postmortem is due to be carried out later.<\/p>\n
A garda investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
A garda spokesperson said: \u201cGarda\u00ed are investigating a fatal house fire that occurred in the early hours of this morning Sunday November 23 at approximately 3am at a residential property on Noonan Road, Cork.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cGarda\u00ed and emergency services attended the scene and one male, aged in his 60s, was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital, where he later passed away.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cA post mortem will take place in due course.<\/p>\n
