A pedestrian in his 40s has died after he was struck by a car in Waterford city.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed said they were alerted to the incident on the R448 in Sallypark at around 2.10am this morning.<\/p>\n
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination is due to take place.<\/p>\n
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
The road was closed from Rice’s Bridge to the New Rath Road roundabout for a technical examination and local diversions were in place.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone who was travelling on the road between 1.30am and 2.15am, and who may have camera footage, to contact them.<\/p>\n
