\u201cIt\u2019s an odd idea and an odd question that if you consider yourself an artist that you might think, \u2018Should I really be sharing what\u2019s going on in my brain as part of my art?\u2019 That\u2019s kind of messed up, that that is where we have got to as human beings.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old singer previously insisted West End Girl isn\u2019t a \u201ccruel album\u201d.<\/p>\n

She told Interview magazine: \u201cIt\u2019s not a cruel album. I don\u2019t feel like I\u2019m being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Allen said she is in a different headspace now than she was when she wrote the record and doesn\u2019t feel the need for \u201crevenge\u201d.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI mean, I wrote this record in 10 days in December and I feel very differently about the whole situation now. We all go through breakups and it\u2019s always f****** brutal. But I don\u2019t think it\u2019s that often that you feel inclined to write about it while you\u2019re in it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s fun about this record; it\u2019s viscerally like going through the motions. At the time, I was really trying to process things and that\u2019s great in terms of the album, but I don\u2019t feel confused or angry now.
