\u201cReal Time\u201d host\u00a0Bill Maher\u00a0called out\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s wife, Molly McNearney, on Friday for giving her Trump-voting family members <\/a>what he described as an \u201cultimatum\u201d on politics.<\/p>\n

McNearney, executive producer for \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live,\u201d appeared on the \u201cWe Can Do Hard Things\u201d podcast on Nov. 6,\u00a0where she revealed\u00a0that before the 2024 election, she reached out to some of her conservative family members in a last-ditch effort to convince them not to vote for President\u00a0Donald Trump. She told the hosts she had emailed her conservative relatives a list of \u201cten reasons not to vote for [Trump]\u201d and said she\u2019s lost relationships with some family members over their support for the current president.<\/p>\n

While speaking about people cutting off their family members over differences in political views, Maher addressed McNearney\u2019s comments, slamming her for ending relationships with family members who wouldn\u2019t \u201cobey\u201d her plea to not vote for Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cMolly McNerney, Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s wife and head writer, went public on this topic recently, so I feel it\u2019s fair to comment, respectfully, in public. She says she\u2019s lost relationships with relatives because she wrote them an email before the election with ten reasons why they shouldn\u2019t vote for Trump, and some still didn\u2019t obey, so you know,\u201d Maher said, clicking and gesturing a slicing motion across his neck.<\/p>\n

McNearney said on the \u201cWe Can Do Hard Things\u201d podcast that she emailed her conservative relatives a list of \u201cten reasons not to vote for [Trump]\u201d and lost relationships with some family members over the outcome of the election.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen reasons? I can think of 100. But I would never present it to someone as an ultimatum,\u201d he continued. \u201cUltimatums don\u2019t make people rethink their politics. They make them rethink you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cReal Time\u201d host <\/a>remarked that somewhere along the way, \u201cmy values\u201d became code for \u201cI\u2019m the only one with a moral compass,\u201d before continuing to criticize what he saw as McNearney\u2019s \u201cultimatum.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWrite a top ten list to yourself where you try to imagine ten reasons why 77 million Americans didn\u2019t want to trust you with taking power, and I say that as someone who votes Democratic. As I like to remind my very pure friends, we voted for the same person. You\u2019re just why she lost,\u201d Maher said, closing his thoughts on McNearney.<\/p>\n

ABC and Disney did not immediately return\u00a0Fox News Digital\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Following her husband\u2019s spat with Trump over his show being temporarily suspended in September, McNearney told the \u201cWe Can Do Hard Things\u201d podcast that she felt betrayed after some of her family members voted for the current president.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Disney briefly suspended ABC\u2019s \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d <\/a>after the host\u2019s remarks about the alleged assassin of\u00a0Charlie Kirk\u00a0sparked widespread backlash. After an about-face from Disney, the liberal comedian returned the following week.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt hurts me so much because of the personal relationship I now have, where my husband is out there fighting this man, and to me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband and me and our family. And I unfortunately have kind of lost relationships with people in my family because of it,\u201d\u00a0McNearney said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI\u2019ve definitely pulled in closer with the family that I feel more aligned with. And I hate that this has happened.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She continued, saying that, for her, politics are no longer about \u201cRepublican versus Democrat,\u201d but about \u201cfamily values.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s really hard for me because I grew up believing in these Christian ideals of taking care of the sick and taking care of the poor, and I don\u2019t see that happening with this Republican Party. And so it\u2019s \u2014 I feel like I\u2019m kind of in constant conflict, and I\u2019m angry all the time, which isn\u2019t healthy at all,\u201d McNearney explained. \u201c<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cBut I, like, personalize everything now.
