{"id":156777,"date":"2025-11-24T09:17:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/156777\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T09:17:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:17:08","slug":"strong-consistent-evidence-hpv-vaccines-prevent-cervical-cancer-reviews-find-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/156777\/","title":{"rendered":"Strong, consistent evidence HPV vaccines prevent cervical cancer, reviews find \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">There is strong and consistent evidence that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/hpv-vaccine\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/hpv-vaccine\/\">HPV vaccines<\/a> are effective in preventing cervical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cancer\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cancer\/\">cancer<\/a> and precancerous changes, especially when given to young people before they are exposed to the virus, two new reviews have found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The research was carried out in response to rising online misinformation  about side effects of the vaccine, and global decline in vaccine  and screening uptake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The two  reviews showed that girls vaccinated before the age of 16 were found to be 80 per cent less likely to develop cervical cancer.
