{"id":158348,"date":"2025-11-25T06:42:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T06:42:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/158348\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T06:42:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T06:42:13","slug":"cork-singer-songwriter-shimmer-boy-reacts-to-his-song-being-used-on-reality-tv-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/158348\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork singer-songwriter Shimmer Boy reacts to his song being used on reality TV show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">A Cork singer-songwriter has said it was \u201cgenuinely class\u201d to see their debut single featured on one of the UK\u2019s most popular reality TV shows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Skibbereen native Aaron O\u2019Sullivan, aka Shimmer Boy, has been featured on the new season of  Made in Chelsea with his debut single \u2018 Under the Surface\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr O\u2019Connell said the reaction he has received has been \u201cunreal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cIt was genuinely class to have  Under The Surface featured on Season 30 of  Made in Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cGetting a song onto TV was one of my main goals for the year, and I couldn\u2019t be happier that it happened with my very first release,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen the email came in from Universal, I honestly thought it had to be a scam \u2014but the reaction since has been unreal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThe messages, the support, the buzz around the track, it\u2019s been deadly to see. Looking ahead, the whole thing has given me serious confidence for what\u2019s next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr O\u2019Sullivan has explored various musical pursuits since playing DeBarra\u2019s Folk Club on Friday nights at the age of 15.  Under the Surface is the first track from his debut album,  In The Aftermath, We Bloom, coming late 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">He has gigged extensively in Ireland and abroad since his teens, supporting and sharing the stage with the likes of Eric Bell of Thin Lizzy, James Arthur, Cory Wong, Ariel Posen, Kellie Lewis, and Culture Kid, as well as playing guitar with artists such as Oscar Blue, Stephanie Rainey, and Harry Hudson Taylor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n             Under the Surface was co-written with Fionn Hennessy, drummer with Cian Ducrot, Pa Sheehy, and Little House, and Mr O\u2019Sullivan said the choice of debut song had felt appropriate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cAt almost two years sober, it feels like the right song to put out first,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cWe\u2019ve always been great friends, and we spoke heavily about alcoholism and addiction when writing this.
