A town in the west of Ireland has bid farewell to another beloved store,<\/a> meaning that just one store remains in the once bustling town.<\/p>\n

Locals in Roundstone <\/a>have been left heartbroken after the closure of Woods shop, which had been a fixture in the town for more than 70 years.<\/p>\n

Woods was run by S\u00e9amus and Christina Lowry, who are stepping away from the business and are ready to enjoy their fully earned retirement.<\/p>\n

The shop, which was first set up by a man called John De Courcey, was purchased by John Woods and his wife Bridget from Inishacken a little over 70 years ago. Since then, Woods shop has been a mainstay of the village.<\/p>\n

More recently, Christina and Seamus took over and ran the shop along with a tourism business.<\/p>\n

Since the sad news was announced, tributes have been pouring in for Seamus and Christina from the local community.<\/p>\n

Connemara Chamber posted: “Best wishes to Seamus & Christina Lowry from Woods Shop in Roundstone as it closes its doors today. Thank you for your years of service to Roundstone.”<\/p>\n

Mairead said: “Wishing Seamus and Christina & all the family all the very best of health & happiness in the next chapter of their journey together, thanks for everything over the years.”<\/p>\n

Geraldine posted: “Thanks, Christina and Seamus, for the wonderful memories of staying with you over many, many years. Fran and I loved our annual visit to Roundstone. Best wishes to you both.”<\/p>\n
