{"id":158556,"date":"2025-11-25T09:30:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T09:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/158556\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T09:30:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T09:30:10","slug":"ireland-has-spent-e380m-supporting-ukraine-to-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/158556\/","title":{"rendered":"Ireland has spent \u20ac380m supporting Ukraine to date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since the outset of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022, Ireland has spent \u20ac380 million in \u201cpolitical, humanitarian, economic and non-lethal military aid\u201d on supporting Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The figures, revealed by Independent Minister of State Se\u00e1n Canney, include the donation of 34 vehicles, which were delivered in September, along with 3 Reacher bomb disposal units. Before that, five air defence radar systems delivered in June.<\/p>\n<p>Canney said that the Irish Defence Forces are set to deliver \u201ca further training module of basic training to Ukrainian armed forces personnel\u201d via the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will take to 23 the total number of modules delivered by Irish personnel,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Through the European Defence Agency\u2019s EU SatCom Market project, Ireland provided satellite communications equipment to Ukraine at a value of \u20ac1.36 million.<\/p>\n<p>The State continues to make contributions to the European Peace Facility, EPF, directed towards non-lethal military assistance for Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Taken together, the EU and its member countries have delivered close to \u20ac144 billion in support since the conflict began.<\/p>\n<p>This backing has included macro-financial aid, budgetary assistance, emergency measures, crisis response, humanitarian relief, and military support. In February 2024, a political agreement was concluded on a \u20ac50 billion financial package for Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Under this arrangement, up to \u20ac50 billion in grants and loans will be available to Ukraine through to 2027, aimed at addressing urgent needs, supporting recovery efforts and helping with modernisation as it advances towards EU membership.<\/p>\n<p>At EU level, most of the outstanding EPF funding that has already been committed is still on hold. For its part, Ireland has pledged \u20ac100 million this year in bilateral non-lethal military support.
