National
\nInsights:<\/p>\n

Job ad volumes have risen by
\n1% for the past four months and are now 7% higher
\ny\/y.Applications per ad rose 2% m\/m and remain at
\nrecord high levels.<\/p>\n

Region
\nInsights:<\/p>\n

Aside from Gisborne (-1% m\/m),
\nall regions recorded either no change, or growth, in
\nOctober.Job ads rose the fastest m\/m in Hawkes Bay
\n(3%) and Otago (3%).<\/p>\n

Industry
\nInsights:<\/p>\n

Monthly increases were
\nrecorded across most industries, the largest being Sport
\n& Recreation (4%).Job ads in Information &
\nCommunication Technology, have risen consistently for 12
\nmonths and are now 15% higher y\/y.<\/p>\n

“October\u2019s data shows some
\ncontinued incremental activity returning to New Zealand’s
\njob market, with job ads up 1% for the fourth consecutive
\nmonth and 7% higher than last year. While we’re mindful that
\nmany Kiwis are still facing real challenges in finding work,
\nthis data does indicate that hiring activity has stabilized
\nafter many months of
\ndecline.

“One encouraging sign is
\nthat this growth isn’t concentrated in just one or two areas
\n– we’re seeing modest gains across most industries and in
\nmost regions around the
\ncountry.
\u00a0
“For candidates, this
\nrepresents some encouraging movement in an otherwise
\nextremely tough market. Technology roles remain in demand,
\nwith Science & Technology and ICT positions both up 15%
\nannually.
\u00a0
\u201cAnd there are plenty
\nof candidates in the market, with applications to both New
\nZealand and Australian jobs by local workers extremely
\nelevated compared to pre-COVID
\nlevels.\u201d<\/p>\n
