A woman has suffered serious burn injuries after an accelerant was sprayed over her before she was set alight at a property in south Dublin. <\/p>\n
The woman\u2019s face is understood to have been badly burned in the attack, while a man has also been hospitalised for injuries he sustain during the violent incident. <\/p>\n
The woman answered to a caller at the property in the Oak Downs area of Clondalkin, Dublin 22, just after 10am on Tuesday. As she opened the door, the substance, possibly petrol, was sprayed at her and she was set on fire. Garda\u00ed are trying to determine how the attacker travelled to the scene, though it was suspected he was on a motorbike.<\/p>\n
While the investigation into the attack is still in its early stages, garda\u00ed believe a significant degree of planning was involved and it appeared to be targeted. <\/p>\n
Garda Headquarters confirmed the woman was \u201cremoved from the scene to hospital to be treated for burn injuries which are believed to be serious\u201d. It also said the man who was hospitalised was being \u201ctreated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe scene has been preserved for technical examination. A senior investigating officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established In Clondalkin Garda station,\u201d the statement added. \u201cGarda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed either incident to contact them.\u201d<\/p>\n
