Doc Martin, Out There and Manhunt star Martin Clunes has been confirmed for the final episode of the current season of Have I Got News for You, the long-running panel show’s 70th run overall.<\/p>\n

The actor will guest host episode 10 on Friday 12 December at 9pm. It’s his 17th time as guest host, and 22nd time on the programme overall.<\/p>\n

Taskmaster and stand-up comedian Phil Wang has been confirmed as one of the panelists, making it his 15th time on the show (including the one time he guest hosted at the last-minute).<\/p>\n

The other panelist hasn’t been confirmed at the current time.<\/p>\n

Obviously this episode is a few weeks away, and we’ve got two more episodes to go until then.<\/p>\n

This Friday’s (28 November) episode features The Crystal Maze’s Richard Ayoade as host and Richard Osman’s House of Games’ Richard Osman and comedian Bella Hull as the guest panelists.<\/p>\n

The week after (5 December), Professor Hannah Fry is back as host while Green Party leader Zack Polanski and stand-up Finlay Christie are the guest panelists.<\/p>\n

The Friday after Clunes’ episode airs, there will be the standard compilation of the show’s best bits from this year. Expect plenty of Paul Merton’s super quick puns and Ian Hislop’s passionate rants.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Clunes was recently announced to be starring in<\/a> Best Medicine, an American remake of beloved long-running ITV show… Doc Martin?!<\/p>\n

Yes, he really is starring in an international adaptation of his own show, but he won’t be playing the same role (like the aforementioned Ayoade did in the ill-fated US version of The IT Crowd).<\/p>\n

Instead he’ll be the father of the lead character: Dr Robert Best. The character is described as having a “snobby, stone-cold exterior” and plenty of secrets in his past.<\/p>\n
