Gerry “The Monk” Hutch merchandise has appeared on Christmas stalls in Dublin city centre.<\/p>\n

It comes after he reportedly told supporters he will run in the upcoming byelection.<\/p>\n

Santa hats, mugs and even Christmas wrapping paper featuring Gerry Hutch’s face have been spotted on stalls on Henry Street.<\/p>\n

Shoppers can also buy t-shirts with the monk’s campaign poster, saying Vote no 1.<\/p>\n

It comes after it was reported that the 62-year-old has told friends and family he plans to run in the upcoming Dublin Central byelection.<\/p>\n

He narrowly missed out on a seat in last year’s general election, securing 3,100 first-preference votes, but has another chance of taking the spot recently left vacant by former Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe.<\/p>\n

Mr Donohoe stepped down to take up a role with the World Bank.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0The Irish Times<\/a>, Hutch’s strategy will include trying to register hundreds or thousands of new voters in the constituency.<\/p>\n

Hutch teased a run after Mr Donohoe’s announcement last week.<\/p>\n

In a video posted on social media, he said: “I\u2019ve been spending a lot of time lately listening, learning and connecting with people across our community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful for all the support and encouragement. I appreciate everyone who\u2019s been with me on the journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, Hutch was acquitted\u00a0by the Special Criminal Court of the murder of David Byrne (33), who was shot dead in the Kinahan-Hutch feud attack at the Regency Hotel, Dublin, in 2016.\u00a0<\/p>\n
