The official website for the television anime<\/a> of author Shiki<\/a> and illustrator Wan Hachipisu<\/a>‘s Observation Records of My Fianc\u00e9e: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess<\/a> (Jish\u014d Akuyaku Reij\u014d na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku.<\/a>) light novel series revealed the show’s teaser promotional video on Friday.<\/p>\n

The anime will premiere in 2026, and will star Y\u016bsuke Kobayashi<\/a> as Cecil and Miyu Tomita<\/a> as Bertia.<\/p>\n

Junichi Yamamoto<\/a> (Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You<\/a>; Maebashi Witches<\/a>; Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion<\/a>) is directing the anime at Ashi Productions<\/a>. Miki Matsumoto<\/a> (Summer Time Rendering<\/a>, Angels of Death<\/a>) is adapting Wan Hachipisu’s character designs for animation, and Akiko Inoue<\/a> (The Ones Within<\/a>, You and Idol Precure\u266a<\/a>, GeGeGe no Kitar\u014d (TV 2018)<\/a>) is both writing and overseeing the series scripts. Y\u016bki Hayashi<\/a>, Luke Standridge<\/a>, and Asa Taylor<\/a> are composing the music, with music production cooperation by Futokoro Gatana<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hanashi Media<\/a> has released<\/a> the light novel series in English digitally, and it describes the story:\n<\/p>\n

\tExceptionally gifted to his own detriment, Prince Cecil had always found life effortlessly mundane. One ordinary day, his life took an unexpected turn when he became engaged to Miss Bertia, the Chancellor’s daughter. This engagement, however, was anything but typical.
“Prince Cecil! I must confess – I am the villain of this story!” Bertia’s declaration was startling. She claimed to have memories of her former life, where she had been the antagonist in a “Otome game”. Her lofty ambition was to excel as a villainess and thus have her engagement annulled. However, despite her plans for various misdeeds, her attempts have always been unsuccessful.
Is her fianc\u00e9, who aspires to master villainous finesse, simply misguided in his endeavours?<\/p>\n

Shiki originally serialized the story on the Sh\u014dsetsuka ni Nar\u014d website, but later took down the story. AlphaPolis<\/a> released the original novel in two volumes in 2017 with illustrations by Wan Hachipisu. The series has an ongoing sequel titled Jish\u014d Akuyaku Reij\u014d na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku.<\/a>. The fifth volume of the sequel shipped on May 27. Hanashi Media released<\/a> the first volume of the sequel digitally in English on June 30 under the title Observation Records of My Wife.<\/p>\n

Natsume Hasumi<\/a> drew a manga adaptation of the original novel series that had six volumes and one extra volume, which AlphaPolis has released<\/a> in English on the Alpha Manga<\/a> service under the title An Observation Log of My Fianc\u00e9e Who Calls Herself a Villainess<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Hasumi is also drawing a manga adaptation of the Jish\u014d Akuyaku Reij\u014d na Tsuma no Kansatsu Kiroku. sequel. The third volume of the sequel shipped in Japan on May 27. Alpha Manga is also releasing<\/a> the manga in English under the title An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess<\/a>.<\/p>\n
