Marvel Comics’ Star Wars titles are considered canon…until they’re not. Like the novels released by\u00a0Lucasfilm Publishing, filmmakers are free to contradict what’s on the page if it doesn’t line up with their film and television plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Charles Soule and Luke Ross’\u00a0Star Wars: Legacy of Vader has proven itself\u00a0an enjoyable read. However,\u00a0it’s been receiving even more attention lately after the news broke that Disney pulled the plug on Adam Driver and\u00a0Steven Soderbergh’s planned Star Wars movie, The Hunt for Ben Solo.<\/p>\n

Soule previously collaborated with Driver on 2019’s four-issue\u00a0The Rise of Kylo Ren, and some\u00a0believe this comic\u2014set between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker\u2014was meant to set the stage for the unmade potential blockbuster.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Well,\u00a0CBR<\/a> has shared a first look at the penultimate issue of\u00a0Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, and it finds\u00a0Vane\u00e9, one of Darth Vader’s most loyal servants, attempting to bring the Sith Lord back through Kylo Ren.<\/p>\n

That seemingly\u00a0leads to Ben donning his grandfather’s helmet, and seeing Soule’s endgame for this story in the coming months promises to be a lot of fun for fans of this Galaxy Far, Far Away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Driver has said that he had\u00a0“unfinished business”\u00a0with Kylo Ren after the character found redemption and died in the closing moments of 2019’s\u00a0The Rise of Skywalker. So, he enlisted\u00a0Soderbergh, who teamed with\u00a0screenwriter Rebecca Blunt (Logan Lucky)\u00a0to crack the story.\u00a0Scott Z. Burns (Contagion) then started work on the screenplay, and they pitched the movie to Lucasfilm.<\/p>\n

“We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea,”\u00a0Driver confirmed.\u00a0“They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. It was called ‘The Hunt for Ben Solo’\u00a0and it was really cool. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn\u2019t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.”<\/p>\n

Driver described the first draft as\u00a0“one of the coolest f***ing\u00a0scripts I had ever been a part of,”\u00a0while\u00a0Soderbergh said in a statement,\u00a0“I really enjoyed making the movie in my head. I\u2019m just sorry the fans won\u2019t get to see it.”\u00a0Kylo Ren emerged from the divisive\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0sequel trilogy as one of its most popular characters, and fans were devastated when he was killed off.<\/p>\n
