DEVO<\/a> and The B-52s<\/a>\u00a0have announced two massive co-headline shows, taking place in the UK next summer.<\/p>\n

Announced today (Friday November 28), the new dates will see the New Wave legends come together for a gig at The O2 in London on June 20, and at Manchester\u2019s AO Arena on June 21.<\/p>\n

Both bands have previously embarked on their respective farewell tours<\/a> in the past few years, but later decided to keep playing live after joining forces on Saturday Night Live<\/a> and reigniting demand from fans.<\/p>\n

The two UK dates come as an extension to their \u2018Cosmic De-Evolution Tour\u2019, which has already seen them take to stages across the US and Canada. For The B-52s, it will be their first time performing live in the UK since 2019<\/a>, and for DEVO, it comes after the alt icons headed out on their \u201850 Years of De-Evolution Tour<\/a>\u2019 in 2023.<\/p>\n

Joining the two bands at the London and Manchester shows will be Scottish punk legends The Rezillos and fellow New Wave artist Lene Lovich.<\/p>\n

The news of DEVO coming back to the UK comes after the band joined forces with Nick Cave<\/a>, PJ Harvey<\/a> and more to feature on the \u2018Los Angeles Rising\u2019 wildfire relief benefit compilation album<\/a> \u2013 raising funds for those affected by the natural disaster at the start of the year<\/p>\n

Shortly before then, the band\u2019s vocalist, composer and co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh \u2013 who also makes music for TV series and scores for movies \u2013 revealed that he makes $1million per year from the 20-second-long theme tune for Ridiculousness alone<\/a>, and the band worked with David Byrne to share an unearthed collaborative song called \u2018Empire\u2019.<\/a><\/p>\n

The latter was originally written by the pair for the former Talking Heads<\/a> frontman\u2019s fifth solo album, 1997\u2019s \u2018Feelings\u2019, but it didn\u2019t make the final cut. A version of the tune appears on Byrne<\/a>\u2019s 2004 record \u2018Grown Backwards\u2019.<\/p>\n
