If you are looking for the best late-night bar in Ireland, you will find it right here in Cork City.<\/p>\n
That’s according to the Irish Pub of the Year awards and the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland, which has named Dwyers of Washington Street the Best Late-Night Bar for 2025. The Cork venue is a relatively new addition to the city, having opened just before Christmas in 2018, in what was once a garment factory run by the Dywer family, a Cork business founded in the 1820s.<\/p>\n
They now go until 2.30am in the morning and feature live music most nights of the week, one of the reasons why they have been named Best Late Bar in the Irish Pub Awards.<\/p>\n
There was also success for a Kerry venue – the famous Lobster Bar in Waterville was named Best Food Pub, with their legendary fish pies and chowder getting the praise of the judges.<\/p>\n
Cork publican and VFI president Michael O’Donovan, of the famous Cork City heritage pub The Castle Inn, said the awards seek to recognise outstanding achievement, at a time when the pub sector is fighting to overcome strong economic headwinds.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Irish Pub Awards, Michael O\u2019Donovan said: \u201cThe Irish Pub Awards continue to showcase the outstanding quality, creativity, and community spirit that define our trade. This year\u2019s winners represent the very best of Irish hospitality, pubs that combine tradition with innovation while remaining at the heart of their communities.
