And it was the cost of living <\/a>and commute times<\/a> that were a key part of Dublin’s poor score.<\/p>\n Dublin<\/a> scored 7.55 out of 10 on the stress index – just 0.01 lower than New York. One major factor cited as contributing to stress levels in the Irish capital is the rising cost of housing.<\/p>\n The research by Remitly<\/a>, who analysed over 170 major cities worldwide, looked at recent figures showing Ireland\u2019s house-price-to-income ratio is around 11% higher than its long-term average, with home prices continue to outbalance earnings. Another important factor is commuting time. Commutes<\/a> of 32 minutes per 10 km are among Europe\u2019s longest, the research found.<\/p>\n While buses, trams and trains are all available to Dublin commuters, traffic leads to slow speeds at peak times. Roads in and out of the capital also face congestion every morning and evening.<\/a><\/p>\n New York is the most stressful city to live in, with a score of 7.56 out of 10, with most New Yorkers cited rising living costs as their biggest concern. Everyday essentials remain major sources of financial strain for people who call The Big Apple home.<\/p>\n Mexico City is the third most stressful city to live in the world, with a score of 7.38 out of 10. Commutes average almost 32 minutes per 10 km, with more than 22 million people living in the metropolitan area.<\/p>\n This leads to major congestion could be one of the biggest daily frustrations.
