{"id":168158,"date":"2025-11-30T21:01:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T21:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/168158\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T21:01:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T21:01:08","slug":"chinas-xingyan-star-eye-network-to-track-satellites-and-space-debris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/168158\/","title":{"rendered":"China\u2019s Xingyan \u2018Star Eye\u2019 network to track satellites and space debris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China is launching a second satellite constellation to monitor objects in orbit to help commercial operators lower collision risks and ease the country\u2019s long reliance on foreign tracking data.<\/p>\n<p>When complete, the Xingyan \u2013 or Star Eye \u2013 space situational awareness constellation will have 156 satellites up and running to identify the orbits of other satellites and <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3334258\/china-challenges-us-containment-global-action-plan-its-commercial-space-industry?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">debris,<\/a> detect unusual movements, and provide collision warnings and maneuver advice every two hours.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Its developer, Xingtu Cekong, an Anhui-based spin-off of leading geospatial data company Zhongke Xingtu, said 12 satellites would be launched by 2027 and the full network in operation after 2028.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The network will deliver 30-minute updates, with global low-orbit coverage and targeted monitoring in higher orbits, Xingtu Cekong chairman and project leader Hu Yu said in Beijing on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3333672\/chinas-shenzhou-20-debris-crisis-catalyst-space-war-or-peace?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">China launched Kaiyun-1<\/a>, the first satellite of the Guangshi space situational awareness constellation, in September.
