Police have urged people who have purchased codeine products to carry out an important check as following an ‘unusual incident’.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has bought Nurofen Plus or similar from pharmacies in Northampton over the last few months has been asked to see if the blister packets were still intact.<\/p>\n

Northamptonshire Police has made the plea after a shopper recently discovered a pack of tablets in a newly-purchased box had been deliberately opened.<\/p>\n

The tablets that were meant to be inside had been removed and replaced with different ones.<\/p>\n

When the box was returned to the store, staff were suspicious as to how it had happened and called police.<\/p>\n

PC Lydia Chamberlain, from the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is an unusual incident whereby the blister pack of tablets inside the box had been opened, the original tablets potentially removed or replaced, and the box somehow put back on the shelf.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to establish if such an incident has happened to anyone else and are asking anyone who has bought codeine products from any Northampton pharmacy, and may have noticed that some or all of the pack of tablets had been opened, or incorrect items in the box, to contact police.<\/p>\n

“If you currently have a box in your cupboard, please do take a look and check.”<\/p>\n
