If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission \u2013 learn more<\/a><\/p>\n In the UK, when it comes to Christmas<\/a> there are several foods that are always bound to divide the nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Turkey is one of them, Brussels sprouts are another and then there\u2019s the tub of chocolates<\/a> \u2013 your family might either be a Quality Street household, a Roses household or a Heroes household.\u00a0<\/p>\n Each year the Cadbury <\/a>and Nestl\u00e9 tubs cause a stir due to the size and price and already this month fans have been left fuming over a \u2018rip off\u2019 change to Quality Street<\/a> as they\u2019ve shrunk from 600g in 2024 to 550g and they cost as much as \u00a37 in some supermarkets.\u00a0<\/p>\n As such, some shoppers have been looking for alternatives for Christmas this year and an own-brand product from M&S<\/a> is proving popular, with people claiming it feels more \u2018magical\u2019 than some of the other options out there.<\/p>\n The Big Mix from M&S costs \u00a37 for a 650g carton or \u00a312 for a huge 1.2kg tin and features a mix of 10 different sweets in colourful wrappers, suitable for vegetarians.<\/p>\n The selection includes Salted Caramel, Coffee<\/a> Truffle, Hazelnut in Caramel, Cream Toffee, Milk Cr\u00e8me, Caramel Fudge, Strawberry Cr\u00e8me, Orange Cr\u00e8me, Biscuit in Caramel and a Butterscotch \u00c9clair.<\/p>\n Both the box and tin are available to buy now on Ocado<\/a> and shoppers have been raving about the products in the reviews and on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n A shopper known as littlepieces gave them a 5\/5 rating, writing: \u2018Best chocolate box for Christmas!<\/p>\n \u2018These are our favourite chocolate box at Christmas time for sharing with the family \u2013 the chocolate is nice and thick and lovely fillings. I\u2019ve been buying these for a few years now instead of the other popular brands.\u2019<\/p>\n Whirley Shirley agreed, saying: \u2018Absolutely love this new mix of chocs with some different flavours to the norm. Coffee one a real joy, a nice milk chocolate covering too.\u2019<\/p>\n While fussyshopper1 commented: \u2018Great selection, better than the leading brands of chocolates that come in plastic tubs and tins.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tWhich chocolate tub do you normally go for at Christmas?<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tSign up to Metro’s The Slice newsletter for your guide to what’s on in London, with trusted reviews, offers and giveaways.<\/p>\n On Instagram, snaps of the chocolates were shared by @uknewestfoods and followers were quick to say they\u2019d buy them over other chocolate brands \u2018purely because they still have shiny wrappers\u2019.<\/p>\n On X (formerly Twitter), the packaging was also a big selling point, and @chatswithem did not hold back her thoughts in a dramatic post. <\/p>\n She shared: \u2018Nestl\u00e9 and Cadburys, quick note\u2026 Everyone hates your new Roses and Quality Street plastic tubs and basic, plain, soul-destroying wrappers. Meanwhile M&S are seeing their Christmas chocolate tins literally fly off the shelves because they\u2019ve stuck to the traditional metal tin and beautiful shiny wrappers that bring awe to little faces.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018Those wonderful old tins of beautiful, bejewelled treats are literally part of so many childhood memories. And you\u2019ve taken that wonder away from today\u2019s little kids. Do us all a favour and put the magic back in the tin.\u2019<\/p>\n Similarly, @Ajcts said: \u2018Bought the M&S \u00a312 alternative yesterday. At Christmas, I want sparkle and tins filled to the brim, not a half-filled plastic tub of paper drab wrappers.\u2019<\/p>\n Quality Street famously ditched its iconic sweet wrappers<\/a> for a paper version in 2023 in order to reduce plastic.<\/p>\n However, not everyone is a big fan of the M&S chocolates with some saying the flavour was \u2018very sweet\u2019, \u2018sickly\u2019 and just \u2018ok\u2019.
