\n\tSabrina Carpenter<\/a> called out the \u201cinhumane agenda\u201d of the Donald Trump<\/a> administration after the White House<\/a> used her song \u201cJuno\u201d in a social media video<\/a> featuring ICE<\/a> agents carrying out arrests.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tPosted Monday, the 20-second clip opened with footage of people ostensibly protesting against ICE raids, before transitioning to a montage of agents appearing to chase down and detain allegedly undocumented immigrants. The caption quoted Carpenter\u2019s lyrics, \u201cHave you ever tried this one? Bye-bye.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn X, Carpenter responded<\/a> to the video, writing, \u201cThis video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.\u201d (As of publication, the video was still up on the White House\u2019s X and TikTok accounts. A rep for Carpenter did not immediately return Rolling Stone\u2018s request for comment.)<\/p>\n

\n\tAbigail Jackson, a White House spokesperson, said in a statement to Rolling Stone, \u201cHere\u2019s a Short n\u2019 Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: We won\u2019t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe decision to use \u201cJuno\u201d in the White House clip felt especially pointed: During Carpenter\u2019s most recent tour, she would playfully \u201carrest\u201d someone<\/a> in the crowd with fuzzy pink handcuffs during her performances of the Short n\u2019 Sweet tune.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile it seems unlikely, based on her response, that Carpenter gave the White House permission to use \u201cJuno,\u201d it\u2019s unclear if she will be able to do anything about it. The complex web of music licenses that governs the use of copyrighted music on social media platforms could make it difficult for Carpenter to have the video removed on the grounds of copyright infringement.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Trump has angered plenty of artists<\/a> over the years for using their music without permission, the Carpenter situation most closely resembles a recent flare-up between Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> and the Department of Homeland Security. The agency similarly used her song \u201cAll-American Bitch\u201d in a video also showing ICE agents conducting raids and arrests.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tRodrigo responded on Instagram, \u201cDon\u2019t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda,\u201d but the video remains up.
