George Clooney<\/a> recently opened up about losing a career-defining role to his longtime friend Brad Pitt<\/a>, admitting the rejection still stings decades later.<\/p>\n

The actor revealed in a Nov. 29 interview with The Times<\/a> that he was \u201cannoyed\u201d after failing to land the part of J.D., the charming drifter in \u201cThelma & Louise.\u201d The 1991 film became a breakout moment for Pitt, launching his movie career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t watch Thelma & Louise for years because I was annoyed,\u201d Clooney said. At the time, the \u201cGravity\u201d star saw the role as his potential big break. \u201cThe part launched [Pitt\u2019s] career in film. He was doing sitcoms and crap before, so when it was the thing that could\u2019ve launched me? F—!\u201d he told the publication.<\/p>\n

While Pitt\u2019s career took off after the movie, Clooney remained in television during the early 1990s, working on shows including \u201cER,\u201d \u201cBaby Talk,\u201d and \u201cBodies of Evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clooney eventually made peace with the casting decision. \u201cOf course, when I saw it, I was, like, well, it had to be that guy,\u201d he admitted. He also noted that Pitt continues to tease him about losing out on the role.<\/p>\n

Geena Davis, who starred in the film, recalled a similar conversation during a 2016 interview with \u201cGood Morning America.\u201d<\/a> She remembered sitting next to Clooney on a plane when he jokingly said, \u201cYou know, I hate that Brad Pitt\u2026 I hate him because he got that part in Thelma & Louise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clooney and Pitt became friends after working together on \u201cOcean\u2019s Eleven\u201d in 2001, and their fun chemistry on screen is just like how they are in real life.
