{"id":172673,"date":"2025-12-03T10:36:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T10:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/172673\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T10:36:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T10:36:10","slug":"russian-cosmonaut-removed-from-spacex-mission-after-alleged-security-breach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/172673\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian Cosmonaut Removed From SpaceX Mission After Alleged Security Breach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"152\" data-end=\"388\">A Russian cosmonaut has been removed from an upcoming SpaceX mission to the International Space Station after reportedly mishandling sensitive technical materials during training in the United States.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"390\" data-end=\"719\">The investigative outlet The Insider <a href=\"https:\/\/theins.ru\/news\/287330\" title=\"reported\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that Oleg Artemyev, a veteran cosmonaut, allegedly photographed and removed restricted documents at SpaceX\u2019s training facility in Hawthorne, California.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"390\" data-end=\"719\">Space industry analyst Georgy Trishkin told The Insider that\u00a0an interagency investigation was launched in response to the incident.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"940\">A popular space industry Telegram channel, Yura Prosti, separately <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/prostinas\/3438\" title=\"claimed\" rel=\"nofollow\">claimed<\/a> that Artemyev had been taken off the mission last week after photographing SpaceX engines and other materials controlled under U.S. export laws.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"1067\">\u201cIt\u2019s hard to imagine an experienced cosmonaut making such a serious mistake unintentionally,\u201d Trishkin told The Insider.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tnews<br \/>\n\t\t<a data-id=\"in-article-block\" class=\"related-article__inner\" href=\"https:\/\/www.themoscowtimes.com\/2025\/12\/03\/baikonur-launchpad-damaged-after-rocket-launch-to-iss\" title=\"Baikonur Launchpad Damaged After Rocket Launch to ISS\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tBaikonur Launchpad Damaged After Rocket Launch to ISS<br \/>\n\t\t\tRead more<br \/>\n\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1356\">Russia\u2019s space agency Roscosmos later announced that Artemyev would be replaced by Andrei Fedyayev, another veteran cosmonaut who flew on the Crew-6 mission in 2023.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1356\">Roscosmos <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/roscosmos_gk\/18813\" title=\"said\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a> only that Artemyev had been \u201ctransferred to another job,\u201d without addressing the reported investigation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1358\" data-end=\"1571\">Crew Dragon, the spacecraft used under NASA\u2019s Commercial Crew Program, is built and operated by SpaceX, Elon Musk\u2019s private rocket company.
