On Tuesday, Sarah Paulson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where her partner, Holland Taylor, gave a very sweet (and descriptive) speech during the unveiling ceremony. \u201cSarah, the actress, is first of all a wild creature in the animal kingdom,\u201d Taylor said, grinning proudly.\u00a0\u201cWarm-blooded, instinctive, mysterious. Nothing interferes with her laser perception of her character\u2019s traits, its habitat, vulnerabilities, its heroism, its ugliness, terrible truths, its comic pathos. She zeros into a story\u2019s central struggle, where most of us aren\u2019t even aware of our own.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paulson as an actor is \u201cdangerous,\u201d Taylor said.\u00a0\u201cNot dangerous like a snake, more like a mongoose. You know, those darling little creatures that kill snakes.\u201d \u201cIn her acting, you could say Sarah is deceptive, but you would be wrong,\u201d she continued. \u201cHer acting is as honest as a vow of faith, and as complicated as chemistry. She\u2019s not deceiving us \u2014 she is practicing magic, a hat trick in flesh and blood.\u201d Paulson\u2019s secret, Taylor went on, \u201cis her own humanity.\u201d \u201cShe will fearlessly rush to play people who are discredited, pitied, despised, horrible, mean people, twisted, overlooked, misjudged,\u201d she said. \u201cThe result is she is their defender, their rescuer, their restitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

I know the snake,\u201d she said. \u201cBut mostly we know the deeply understanding, loving, and loyal person who is safety itself.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHollywood does well to honor her,\u201d Holland concluded. \u201cAnd just in case she doesn\u2019t know it, she has a permanent shining star on my street. I love you, darling.\u201d<\/p>\n Paulson and Taylor have been together for over a decade. They began dating in 2015 but had met at a dinner party nearly ten years earlier, where Paulson told the New York Times<\/a> she thought Taylor was \u201cprobably the most exquisitely beautiful woman I\u2019d ever seen.\u201d The two have an age gap of over 30 years \u2014 Paulson is 50, while Taylor is 82 \u2014 and Paulson said she sees this as a positive. \u201cThere\u2019s a poignancy to being with someone older,\u201d she said. \u201cI think there\u2019s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what\u2019s important, and it can make the little things seem very small. It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something.\u201d<\/p>\n Sounds like these two are ridiculously in love and also really good with words.
