{"id":175934,"date":"2025-12-05T04:27:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T04:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/175934\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T04:27:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T04:27:09","slug":"offaly-domestic-violence-support-service-to-receive-e10k-funding-from-ireland-against-racism-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/175934\/","title":{"rendered":"Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service to receive \u20ac10k funding from Ireland Against Racism Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Photo: Government of Ireland\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/a7e74072-5dd1-4aaf-b2ef-3b6bc1123dda.jpg\" loading=\"eager\" width=\"100%\" data-testid=\"article-image\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_caption1 indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_secondary indo-66f0fec7_regular indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_marginleft0 indo-1d70522a_marginright0 indo-1d70522a_margintop3 indo-b48c4984_left\" style=\"color:var(--color-grey-60)\">Photo: Government of Ireland<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">A domestic abuse support service for communities in Offaly, Laois, Longford, Roscommon, and Westmeath will receive \u20ac10,000 in funding under the Ireland Against Racism Fund 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service provides support for victims of domestic violence and their children at a local level and campaign for societal and legislative changes that will lead to the elimination of violence and abuse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The services has been selected as one of 37 projects nationally to receive support as part of the National Action Plan Against Racism, which will see over \u20ac1.5 million allocated to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The fund enables non-government and community organisations to provide national and regional projects and local initiatives that combat racism and promote racial equality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Offaly TD John Clendennen welcomed the news benefitting midland counties: \u201cThis is an important investment in our community and a recognition of the vital work being done locally to tackle racism and promote equality\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">\u201cI want to commend the Service, the board members, the volunteers and all those involved in the Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service on their successful application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">It is recognition of the positive impact the Service has both here in Offaly and across our neighbouring counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">\u201cInitiatives like this help ensure that every person, regardless of background, feels safe, valued and supported.
