The indie horror game Iron Lung is getting a feature film adaptation from popular YouTube star Markiplier, and Variety<\/a> has revealed the project\u2019s first official poster this morning.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Variety reports that Iron Lung is being self-distributed in theaters by Markiplier, who stars in the film and also wrote and directed the video game adaptation.<\/p>\n

Variety details, \u201cMarkiplier also is self-distributing the film, working directly with independent theaters across the country. For the opening weekend (January 30 \u2013 February 1), he\u2019s aiming for Iron Lung to be in 50-100 independent theaters. Tickets will start to go on sale Friday, coinciding with the film\u2019s L.A. premiere at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said it shouldn\u2019t be done. Not that it couldn\u2019t be done, people have made movies before, just that it would be \u2018woefully unwise\u2019 to tackle writing, directing, acting and editing a movie myself. Showed them,\u201d Markiplier, whose real name is Mark Fischbach, said in a statement to Variety. \u201cMy bathroom might be a render farm now but I can\u2019t wait for people to see the blood, sweat, blood, tears, blood and blood that went into this movie from everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Markiplier also suggests that Iron Lung will break the world record for \u201cmost blood in a horror movie.\u201d He adds onto that bold statement, \u201cOr any movie for that matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the official synopsis: \u201cThe stars are gone. The planets have disappeared. Only individuals aboard space stations or starships were left to give the end a name \u2014 The Quiet Rapture.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter decades of decay and crumbling infrastructure, the Consolidation of Iron has made a discovery on a barren moon designated AT-5. An ocean of blood.\u2028Hoping to discover desperately needed resources they immediately launch an expedition. A submarine is crafted and a convict is welded inside. Due to the pressure and depth of the ocean the forward viewport has been encased in metal. If successful, they will earn their freedom.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf not, another will follow. This will be the 13th expedition.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Szymanski\u00a0created the\u00a0Iron Lung\u00a0video game, which was named by Bloody Disgusting as one of the\u00a0Best Indie Horror Video Games You Might\u2019ve Missed in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Caroline Rose Kaplan, Troy Baker and Elsie Lovelock will also star in the movie.<\/p>\n
