Tonight, the Lady Helen Taylor, the daughter of Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent<\/a>, and her four children made an appearance at Kate Middleton\u2019s annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey. Known as the \u201cTogether at Christmas\u201d service, this year\u2019s event is sure to hold a special meaning for the royals.<\/p>\n

The event celebrates the theme of \u201clove in all its forms – whether it\u2019s love within families, through friendships, across communities, or even through powerful moments of connection with strangers,\u201d according to a release. The statement added that Kate, \u201cwanted to recognize and thank the many people around the country who are acting with love in their communities, contributing to a more cohesive and connected society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with a star-studded lineup of performances in the Abbey, prior to entering guests enjoyed music from Future Talent, a music-focused charitable organization co-founded by Helen\u2019s mother, the late Duchess of Kent<\/a>, who passed away earlier this year. Designed with the goal of helping young people from low-income backgrounds find opportunities to grow their musical skills, the organization was founded in 2004, two years after Katharine, Duchess of Kent stepped back from life as a working royal. It was a cause close the late royal\u2019s heart, having served as a primary school music teacher<\/a> for over a decade.<\/p>\n

While the Duke of Kent himself is a regular attendee of the concert, he was not seen at the service tonight, though he did accompany German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke B\u00fcdenbender to an even in Coventry earlier today as part of the German state visit to the UK.<\/a><\/p>\n

Edward and Katharine shared three children and ten grandchildren<\/a>, including Helen\u2019s sons Columbus and Cassius, and her daughters Eloise and Estella, all of whom showed up to support their mother at the carol service.<\/p>\n
