<\/p>\nWaterford FC are delighted to announce the signing of Benny Couto ahead of the 2026 SSE Airtricity Men\u2019s Premier Division.<\/p>\n

The 22 year-old full-back becomes Jon Daly\u2019s latest signing at the RSC, after the permanent signings of Luke Heeney & Conan Noonan this week.<\/p>\n
Couto, a left-footed dynamic full-back, spent the 2025 season with Cork City FC, making 23 appearances for Ger Nash\u2019s side across all competitions \u2013 getting four assists to his name whilst at Turners Cross.<\/p>\n
The full-back began his career with Oldham Athletic, progressing through their academy ranks before earning his first-team debut away to Salford City in the EFL Trophy in August of 2021. In the same month, he was a half-time substitute for Oldham\u2019s EFL Cup defeat away to Premier League outfit Brentford FC at the Brentford Community Stadium.<\/p>\n
Benny made 36 appearances for Oldham before spending time on loan with both The New Saints in Wales & Ashton United in The National League, before signing permanently for Ashton United ahead of the 2024\/25 season.<\/p>\n

Couto then made the move to the League of Ireland at the start of 2025 with Cork City, as he now makes the move to the Blues for 2026.<\/p>\n
After signing for the Blues, Benny spoke to the club about his move to the RSC, saying:<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really happy to be here at Waterford now, and I\u2019m really looking forward to the season & showing everyone what I can do. Hopefully we can go and have a great year at the RSC.\u201d<\/p>\n
