Ireland could be facing a storm next week as low pressure continues to dominate<\/a>, though there remains considerable uncertainty in the weather forecast.<\/p>\n Met Eireann<\/a> is keeping a close eye on weather models amid concerns over stormy conditions potentially affecting the island of Ireland.<\/p>\n Where there is certainty, however, is the expected heavy rain and strong winds over the coming days as low pressure brings unsettled conditions to much of the country.<\/p>\n The national forecaster’s outlook reads that the weather will be “overall unsettled with rain, showers and the potential for strong winds at times. An unusual amount of uncertainty in the details from Monday night onwards.”<\/p>\n Temperatures are set to remain milder for this time of year, with chances of a white Christmas appearing slim.<\/p>\n The west and north are likely to face the worst of any heavy rain, hail, wind and potentially even thunderstorms next week.<\/p>\n Irish weather expert Alan O’Reilly, who mans the ever-popular @CarlowWeather account on X<\/a>, is also monitoring the possible stormy activity over the coming days.<\/p>\n He posted: “Latest weather model updates for Tuesday continue to show uncertainty on the track of potential storm. The UKMO model has the worst outcome this morning.<\/p>\n “The conveyor belt of low systems will continue coming across the Atlantic with risk of more storms this coming week.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, this weekend has started with wet and windy conditions for many areas as the counties of Cork and Kerry saw Status Yellow rain warnings expire at 9am <\/a>on Saturday, December 6.<\/p>\n Today will be generally breezy with scattered showers turning to longer spells of rain but brighter periods will develop into the afternoon in temperatures of between 8C to 12C.<\/p>\n Sunday will start cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, that could develop into heavy bursts occasionally. The west and south will enjoy brighter periods in the afternoon with a similar temperature range to Saturday.<\/p>\n
