{"id":178192,"date":"2025-12-06T20:17:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T20:17:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/178192\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T20:17:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T20:17:06","slug":"kerry-dominance-continues-as-an-ghaeltacht-crowned-munster-champions-after-victory-over-aghabullogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/178192\/","title":{"rendered":"Kerry dominance continues as An Ghaeltacht crowned Munster champions after victory over Aghabullogue\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n             Munster Club IFC final: An Ghaeltacht (Kerry) 2-12 (2-2-8) Aghabullogue (Cork) 1-8 (1-3-2)\u00a0\n        <\/p>\n<p>An Ghaeltacht secured their second Munster Intermediate crown in eight years with a seven-point victory over Aghabullogue at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Kerry\u2019s dominance at this grade was extended to 17 titles in 19 attempts as their representatives stretched away in the final 10 minutes in front of 1,216 supporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Their bid for an All-Ireland breakthrough will begin with a semi-final against Kildare champions Sallins or Tubberclair of Westmeath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The first half teetered between manic moments and controlled football. There were a couple of lead changes, but the sides were only level at the midway whistle; An Ghaeltacht\u2019s 1-6 to Aghabullogue\u2019s 2-3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Mid Cork side were backed by a decent wind advantage, but the men from Slea Head controlled the ball for the most part.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">They were also able to punch through the Aghabullogue rearguard on repeat in those early exchanges. Against a defence with seven clean sheets from eight games, that was no mean feat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It started with Brian \u00d3 Beaglaoich and \u00c9anna \u00d3 Conch\u00fair combining to send Tom\u00e1s \u00d3 S\u00e9 (DC) through, only for John Buckley to produce an excellent save.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">An Ghaeltacht took their first three placed balls short, signalling the strength of the breeze. Their ball retention was such, though, that their patience paid off by the eighth minute. They kept the move going until \u00d3 Beaglaoich offloaded for the rampaging \u00d3 Conch\u00fair to thump into the bottom corner of the net.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Aghabulllogue wouldn\u2019t raise a white flag all half, but were fuelled by two-pointers. Captain John Corkery booted their opening orange flag.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In the 10th minute, they were ahead. There was brief confusion whether An Ghaeltacht had breached the 4v3 rule (they hadn\u2019t) as \u00d3 Beaglaoich zigzagged across the halfway line. That inadvertently created space for him to surge forward before releasing Ruaidhr\u00ed \u00d3 Beaglaoich to make it 2-0 to 1-2. Brian \u00d3 Beaglaoich and Ring were booked for some afters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Kerrymen moved further ahead with points from Ruaidhr\u00ed and Cathal \u00d3 Beaglaoich, and a Gavin \u00d3 Cinn\u00e9ide free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Aghabullogue brought Ois\u00edn O\u2019Connell in to help steady their defence. Ruaidhr\u00ed \u00d3 Beaglaoich had another half-chance of goal spoiled as the underdogs countered for a Corkery two-pointer. A huge Adam Murphy effort on the stroke of half-time brought them level. Aghabullogue\u2019s tally of 1-6 was mined from just six shots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It took them 19 minutes to add to that total.
